The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (CAP) Track at ÔÚÏߺÚÁÏÃÅ is an integrated five-year training program designed for medical graduates who are committed to a career in CAP from the outset of residency.

This innovative program allows applicants to interview for both the General Psychiatry Residency and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship simultaneously, with the opportunity to match into both programs at the PGY-1 level. Beginning this year, one candidate will be selected to join the inaugural cohort.

Streamlined Pathway: A clear, structured route for those dedicated to a career in child and adolescent psychiatry.
Early Mentorship: Begin working with CAP faculty mentors during the general psychiatry years.
Longitudinal Engagement: Participate in research and clinical projects that span the full duration of training.
Community Involvement: Engage in volunteer initiatives that support youth and families in the Houston area.
Pediatric Experience: A guaranteed pediatric medicine rotation during PGY-1 to fulfill ACGME requirements.
Psychotherapy Training: Longitudinal psychotherapy experiences with both adult and youth populations.

If you are not ready to commit to the CAP Track or are not selected, you may still apply to the BCM CAP Fellowship later in your training. The General Psychiatry Residency offers numerous opportunities to explore child and adolescent psychiatry throughout the program.
