Co-chairs: Chellakkan Blesson, Ph.D., HCLD and Laura Detti, M.D.
Target audience: medical students, residents, fellows, REI professionals 

This workshop will include hands-on interactive sessions and lectures from recognized Reproductive, Endocrinology, and Infertility faculty. 

Workshop objectives: 

  • Critically appraise the female and male gametogenesis processes, and the variations during IVF stimulation.
  • Understand the ART/IVF procedures, including ultrasound monitoring, egg retrieval, semen processing embryo culture, and embryo transfer.
  • Learn the basics of fertility preservation: Indications and stimulation, for fertility preservation, and hands-on experience in sperm and egg cryopreservation.
  • Familiarize with the IVF laboratory equipment such as incubators, microscopes, micromanipulators, culture media, and cryopreservation systems.
  • Receive practical training in essential ART/IVF techniques such as semen analysis, sperm preparation, ICSI, embryo biopsy, vitrification and warming of embryo, embryo culture, and embryo transfer.

Learning objectives: 

  • Apply essential techniques to enhance ultrasound image acquisition and clarity in obstetric evaluations.
  • Differentiate causes and interpret sonographic findings associated with first-trimester bleeding.
  • Appraise the standardized ultrasonographic evaluation of the pelvic organs and accurate reporting.
  • Explain the ultrasound evaluation of the fallopian tubes, tubal patency and ectopic pregnancy.
