The Basic Educators' Course
Join your colleagues in the 8-week Basic Educators' Course offered by the Huffington Department of Education, Innovation and Technology at 在线黑料门, where we will take a close look at the systematic thinking process that supports high-quality education.
Early career and seasoned educators in medicine, health professions and basic sciences will gain curriculum skills and innovative teaching strategies that can be applied in classrooms, clinical settings and labs to improve educational outcomes and the success of future professionals. The course is offered asynchronously online with weekly 鈥渢ouchpoints鈥 (virtual face-to-face sessions).
Each week, learners gather virtually to apply what they have learned in small groups, honing their understanding of key concepts and fostering relationships with colleagues. By the end of the course, learners have developed their own educational plan or product using the principles taught throughout the course.
What will be covered:
Currently, the course engages learners in the following topics:
- How the Brain Learns
- Involving All Learners
- Backward Design
- Learner-Centered Outcomes
- Assessment and Feedback
- Learner-Centered Teaching
- Learning in a Digital Environment
- Programmatic Evaluation
Expected Time Commitment:
Typically, the course requires a time commitment of 3鈥5 hours weekly for reviewing (and engaging with) the content and attending a touchpoint (Thursday evenings). We ask that you participate in as many of the weekly modules as possible.
Who Should Register:
Participants will learn the core principles of education as a foundational course offered to all鈥疊CM faculty and outside the College as well. This course is ideally targeted to new or early鈥痚ducators but presents principles and concepts applicable to any level of learner.
